Brian Fallon Treats Fans To Rockin’ Wednesday Night in NYC
It was announced earlier last week that Brian Fallon would be releasing his second solo album Sleepwalkers and touring the U.S. in 2018, with the announcement he dropped his first new song “Forget Me Not” and announced two dates in celebration of the release, two intimate shows, one in L.A. and one in NYC. And needless to say, fans will be in for a treat when the singer hits the U.S. next year.
It was unclear whether this show was backed by his new band The Howling Weather, but Fallon wastes no time kicking off the night and getting fans excited. Starting things off with “Nobody Wins” from his first studio effort, Fallon runs through 13 songs with the energy and passion that fans have been missing while the singer took some time away to record his new album.
The night feature his usual mix of his first solo (“Smoke”, “Red Lights”, “Steve McQueen”) and Horrible Crowes music (“Ladykiller”, “I Witnessed a Crime”, “Behold the Hurricane”), fans were also given some treats throughout the evening such as the Gaslight Anthem classic “Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts” and a roaring cover of “What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love and Understanding”. While the night was primarily music from Painkillers, Fallon did treat fans to some new music.
Fallon played his new single “Forget Me Not” (it’s first live debut) and with it another new track from the upcoming album “If Your Prayers Don’t Go To Heaven”, to which he dedicated to Tom Petty. It’s clear from these two tracks that the singer is moving away from the Americana sound of his first release going toward a more 60’s pop/rock sound.
Being that night was an intimate setting, Fallon added his classic charm and humor throughout the evening giving fans the welcoming atmosphere and comedic charm in addition to the heartfelt rockers. It’s clear he hasn’t lost any of the energy or spirit in his time off of touring and fans can expect Fallon to be at the top of his game vocally and ready to give us one hell of a show.
