Crush Your Goals From Home This Winter!
It’s a time for chilly weather, cozy sweaters, leaves changing color, holidays and carb-heavy food. You know what else it’s the time for? It’s the time for staying inside, at home, because of how ungodly cold it is and no one wants to be the friend that makes plans, therefore, dragging everyone out into the weather that they were trying to avoid in the first place! Yeah, it’s that time.
But, having so much time to yourself to stay in and relax can actually be a blessing in disguise! Just think about how much you can do in the comfort of your own home!
Home Sweet Home
When it’s nice and warm out, how much time do you really spend in the house? Probably not much. So when it gets colder out, it’s time to spend some more time indoors and show your dwellings a little love.
I’m talking about housekeeping. Take advantage of this time at home to rearrange, reorganize and clean up your place just the way you like it. Don’t like where you put that table? Maybe try putting it on the other side of the room. Desperately need to dust those shelves? You’ve got the time! Get to it! Feel like there’s no energy flow in the room? Try moving things around a bit. Need to organize that work station? Put on some music and have some fun with it!
Your home is supposed to be your safe space, your sanctuary where you go to relax and recharge. And seeing as you’ll be spending more time here, it’s a good idea to make a place to be proud of, feel good in and where you actually want to spend time. So, take a look around and see what you can improve, set some goals and achieve them!
On the Hunt!
Are you currently on the job hunt? Maybe you’re looking for a side job or maybe you’re looking for a change. Whatever the reason is, this is a fantastic time to sit down at the computer and fill out as many applications as you can find. The old fogies will tell you to go to the places that you want to apply for but, why? The people there will just tell you to fill out an application online anyway!
Grab a hot cup of (insert seasonally appropriate drink here), get your laptop, smartphone or tablet and let the hunt begin! Just because you’re stuck in the house doesn’t mean you can’t get things done! And applying for jobs that will help improve your life is definitely a productive way to spend your time.
If you don’t currently have any ambitions of leaving your current position, then take some time to brush up your resume and/or cover letter! Just because you’re not job hunting doesn’t mean that you can’t make sure that you’re representing your best self when/if you do start searching in the future. Keeping your resume and cover letter updated is extremely important and takes a bit of stress off your shoulders when you do have to go back on the hunt.
You know what this time of year is great for? Pampering! Gentlemen, I’m talking to you too!
Using the time you have at home to take care of yourself is not only good for your mental health but, it’s good for your physical health! When you’re strong mentally, your body is more capable of effectively fighting off sicknesses. Try taking a relaxing bath! The sensation of being submerged in the warm water is extremely soothing and a fantastic way to relax your muscles after a long day or being exposed to the chilly weather.
Maybe you can take a little time to do some yoga or meditation. Taking some time to quiet your mind and focus on yourself is a great way to improve your mood and perspective on things, which is a total win! Why is that a win? Because you’re in a better state of mind to be able to make decisions about things both big and small.
The Magic of Online Shopping
The later months of the year means one thing in particular: Holidays. No matter the holiday, the retailer-consumer relationship becomes quite a rough one during this time. Gift giving is the current past-time and everyone wants to be the best at it. Who wants to trek out into the cold, the bitter and harsh wind, or maybe even snow just to HOPE that the stores nearby will have what you want in stock? Not you! And you’re smart because you’ve decided that shopping online is a great way to get your holiday shopping out of the way without fighting the frantic crowds.
- If Amazon.com is your main source of online shopping, sign up for Amazon Prime. The first month is a free-trial and then it is $10/month from then on. All items marked as “prime eligible” will be delivered within 2-3 business days AND there’s no shipping fee.
- Printable gift cards are an amazing way to give a gift. You might know which companies they shop with, restaurants where they eat, or subscription boxes they might enjoy. Use that knowledge to your advantage! This kind of gift tells them that you took the time to think about their interests and find something they’d truly enjoy.
Everything mentioned today is just a fraction of what can be done with the time you’ll spend at home during the colder weather. Just make sure that whatever you choose to do with your time is something that helps you, heals you, and improves your day and your life. Winter is the perfect time to step back, look around at your surroundings, fix what needs fixing, focus on your goals and achieve them with a passion!
