Featured Artist: Ashley Lauren
Ashley Lauren can be described as songstress, lyricist, musician, worship leader and speaker. Most importantly, the Midwestern siren is a leader and woman of God. She put her unique sound and raw ability to good work when she joined in the fight against sex trafficking with the organization Songs Against Slavery. From overcoming life’s toughest battles, Ashley Lauren strives to inspire every listener through soul-filled music, life courses helping to break the norms of society, and living testimony of redemption and love.
Millennials 365: What’s the story behind the name Warrior?
Ashley Lauren: Warrior has become my banner for the fans. Each album is always “Warrior” and then the title of where I’m going with the journey. It honestly was given to me in a very dark time of my life when I thought things were going to end. I was on the floor, crying to God for a solution and he gave me my first song, “Warrior” which is still my number one hit til this day. It represents a journey from brokenness to freedom, something we all can relate to.
M365: Who are your biggest influences?
Ashley Lauren: Biggest influence would be the band Needtobreathe. They are absolutely phenomenal and who I strive to open for one of these days. They are wonderful and raw human beings who give it all they’ve got on stage. You can literally feel their soul and effortless presence live. It’s something special that sets them apart from most artists.
M365: What has been your biggest challenge as a musician so far?
Ashley Lauren: My biggest challenge has been consistency and that lies on me. I’m also a full-time actress, casting director, and industry professional, so it can be hard to keep up with doing so many shows, and such! Though this is the year I’m 100% giving my all and focus to balancing both and getting more things off the ground, especially with the launch of my new “Broken Beautiful” EP this year. I believe I’m already overcoming this challenge by planning new shows and benefit concerts, connecting with everyone I can to make this tour happen.
M365: How does music affect you and the world around you?
Ashley Lauren: Music is life in my world, especially worship music. I love the Lord and making music from him for him to bless the world with. It’s a huge part of my purpose and heightens everything I believe in, which causes a genuine presence to evolve in my music and during my shows. It helps me reach another part of myself I didn’t know was there; every time I truly let go it teaches me something. It is a constant rebirth of truth.
M365: Where do you see yourself in the next few years?
Ashley Lauren: Honestly! I’m a HUGE dreamer and have always worked for what I wanted. So, I see myself on a headlining tour with one of my favorite bands, hopefully Needtobreathe! Along with ministering all over the world with Songs Against Slavery, making a HUGE dent in the sex trafficking world and bringing these victims home. I want to travel, speak, and lead in all areas that need true revival especially in our country. I see the “Warrior” movement becoming a movement of leaders striving to make and leave the world a better place.
