How Do Millennials Afford Wanderlust?
It seems nowadays everyone has that friend that is constantly traveling the world claiming to be “following their wanderlust” and “living their best life”. Posting a picture on a Monday from a European countryside and then by Friday posting one from a tropical paradise in Bali, how does a millennial only a few years out of college bank roll all this world travel?
At first glance, with months of insta worthy locations littering my feed, I wondered if these girls still live off their parents or found some sort of sugar daddy set up.
Upon further inspection, it is clear that “social influencers” and Instagram famous millennials are taking over the world. By refusing to get a normal 9 to 5 job in corporate America and choosing to live a bucket list lifestyle, millennials are virtually changing the way advertisers spend their money. Advertisers spent over $570 million last year alone on Instagram influencers to market their products.
Have you ever wondered how much people on Instagram get paid when they post their #Sponsored #ads ?
The more followers does not necessarily mean more money. Studies have shown than people with a “small” following (under 50K) are not out of the running for #ad money! A small but loyal following is still powerful. An instagram influencer with under 50K followers could be making $170 per advertisement, while someone with 800K followers could be making $90 each post. Doesn’t make that much sense does it?! See the five tier system below, try to make sense of it, and then hop on Insta and start making that money to travel the world!
