How to Improve Your Self Esteem in 5 Steps
Without being narcissistic or arrogant, being at ease with yourself is essential to every aspect of your life. As all comes from within, you can not manifest the best version of yourself if you are lacking knowledge about your strengths, and your weaknesses. Self improvement is a continuous project that you will be working on basically during your whole lifetime, and the trick is to keep finding parts of yourself that need to be taken to the next level.
Some people naturally have high self esteem, while some lack it entirely, but regardless of which one you are, it could still be useful to consider the following 5 steps.
1. Spend Time With Yourself
Whether alone at home, in nature, in your little village or out in the world, wherever you feel it suitable for you, but make sure you get some quality time with your own company. Being alone doesn’t imply also being lonely and once you understand this, being alone won’t seem scary, but rather a cherished time and a necessity. It’s that time you invest in getting to know yourself.
2. Be Understanding, But True To Yourself
While experiencing failures, take a step back and have a look at the big picture. Agonizing about what you did wrong will only make you feel miserable and incompetent. On the other hand, identifying your own wrong moves, understanding them, and then taking action to fix them, is a much more productive attitude.
3. Do Something Good For Others Each Day
In order to avoid frustration with the world, don’t forget to give something to others, even if it is as little as a smile. It costs nothing and is absolutely priceless. It may brighten someone’s day and certainly yours will feel more pleasant too.
4. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others
In our very competitive world this is a hard one. Remember that to some people, your life seems perfect, just as theirs might seem to you. From the outside we all see just the surface. Everybody has problems of some sort, and deals with difficult situations. Keep the focus on your own journey!
5. Choose To Be Surrounded With Constructive, Not Destructive People
Don’t forget that your precious time is limited. Invest it wisely. Try your best to keep close those people that lift you up, support your dreams ( even if they seem crazy) and are next to you not only at your best, but especially at your worst.
Implementing these 5 steps in my life made real changes in my mindset. Some were more difficult than others at the beginning, but all of them brought along some positive impacts. Hope it works for you as well!
