Let’s talk about Aaron Judge
If you haven’t heard of Aaron Judge you must be living underneath a rock. He is quickly becoming the favorite player of the American League, or even the whole Major League Baseball organization. He has had eighteen home runs for the Yankees this year alone and it’s only June. The question here is will Judge keep his current pace up? My guess is that he will unless he unfortunately gets an injury. *Knock on wood*
One of the most interesting things about Judge is his “bubble gum superstition.” Before the first pitch he starts chewing Double Bubble Sugar Free gum. If he gets a hit at his first bat, he keeps chewing it. He will then keep chewing the gum until he gets an out. So long story short, if Judge still has the gum in his mouth at the end of the game it means it was a good one.
Judge has recently been compared to the great Derek Jeter. Besides their height, the two baseball stars excel on the field and with their teammates. Maybe we have another future Captain on our hands? As much as I love both of them, I don’t think that they should be compared against each other. The one thing Jeter did not have when he played for the Yankees was his own section. The right fielder now has “The Judge’s Chambers” in Yankee Stadium where fans of his are encouraged to cheer for him. Thank goodness for that last name.
There are of course whispers all around that Judge is one of the top prospects for the “AL Rookie Of The Year” award. He is currently one behind the Anaheim Angels, Mike Trout. If he does get the prestigious honor, it will be very well deserved.
