Miley Cyrus – Malibu’s Chill Vibes and Gratitude-Attitude
If you haven’t already, take the time to go watch Malibu, the much-anticipated new Miley Cyrus music video. Maybe you didn’t like her for her outlandish and inappropriate hand gestures and tongue out in every photo. Maybe you were totally into a new post-Disney Miley. Regardless, you’ll find a much more transparent Miley.
“And sometimes I get so scared of what I can’t understand.” This is a relatable statement to us twenty- somethings as we desperately try to learn everything all at once in today’s world. Miley displays a fresh and calm persona, tied and connected to the experiences and people she’s met. Hint, hint: (a Disney-darling start up, Liam Hemsworth relationship).
Miley’s new music video is gaining millennial attention. A whole new generation who will not remember the Hannah Montana we all once loved. The Miley who helped us enter our brief and painful middle school years, and stayed with us well into high school.
Miley continues to hold onto her Southern charm, still seen in Malibu, as well as embracing other identities. Her numerous tattoos hold a brief reminder that she continues to harness her own unique being. We see her prancing along the beach in white Bohemian-style clothing. This more peaceful and laid back Miley continues to remain herself while keeping her makeup neutral and fresh-faced.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning and you’re there to save me.” We all take note of the open thank you note Miley wrote to Liam, (my guess is one day along the beach in Malibu), expressing her undeniable gratitude we so often cannot always express.
Whether her music videos display hyped and intense scenes, swimming with a mannequin, dancing giant teddy bears, that dreaded foam finger – or a relaxed, feeling the breeze, taking a bath, along a beach, toting balloons as she runs into the sunset, she continues to charm others by just being Miley.
