What’s on the Editor’s Vanity? | July 2017
Welcome to the Editor’s Vanity!
Hi everyone! Happy July! I’m Katie, a beauty and style editor here at Millennials 365.
Do you love reading about new beauty products and always want to try them for yourself? I do. I love following fellow fashion and beauty bloggers to see what new products they are trying and raving about.
So, I’m starting the “What’s on the Editor’s Vanity?” series. Every month, I’ll be posting the beauty products I’m currently using and loving. The best part? Nothing is sponsored. Every single product has been purchased and tried by me. So there’s no guess! I’ll be honest and truthful.
Let’s get started with July’s round up! Click on each heading to shop! 🙂
I recently went on a trip around the Southeastern coast of the United States. Savannah, Georgia was the first stop and I absolutely fell in love with the old city and its charm. One of my great finds there was the Savannah Bee Company. I brought back some of their Beeswax Hand Cream and it’s quickly becoming a staple. Dry, cracked hands is an everyday occurrence for me but this cream takes care of it quickly! I use it mostly at night (or sometimes during the day if I’ve been washing my hands frequently) and find that it absorbs quickly and has a light scent that doesn’t irritate even the angriest parts of my cracked skin.
If you want to see more of Savannah, be sure to check out my guide to the Best of Savannah, GA.
Glossier is a new-to-me brand that just oozes creativity. I recently ordered a makeup set from them and my favorite thing in it was this concealer. Their formula is buildable, which means that I can choose between light coverage on some days and full coverage on others. It’s been perfect for these summer months when I still want to let my freckles shine through but soften under-eye circles. Just a little bit of setting powder and this concealer stays all day!
Ok, lets take a little trip down memory lane. Imagine 14-year-old Katie, playing softball in the spring. It’s not just any spring, it’s a Midwest spring. Midwest springs begin in March with freezing cold winds and the possibility of more snow days to come. Then quickly they turn to 85-degree-heat days with sunburns and heat rashes in mid-April.
Now imagine how a teenager’s delicate skin would react to all of that while being outside for 3-4 hours a day for softball practices and games. Basically, my skin was a mess in high school. I would have wind-burns on my face and nothing (NOTHING) would calm my skin. That is, until I found Aveeno. This moisturizer was the only thing that would calm my wind burn or heat rash. If I could, I would’ve bought this moisturizer in bulk. Its light while also being hydrating. It’s got that traditional “lotion” feel without sitting on the skin. Even though I also struggled with acne, this was still the moisturizer I turned to. So, its been on my vanity ever since.
Since it is July, it’s also important to talk about summer beauty. Everyone loves a tan, but it’s important to get a safe tan. St. Tropez makes this gradual tanner that is really buildable and easy to use daily. I’ve tried many drugstore self-tanners, and I’m always left feeling disappointed. I’m really glad I splurged to get St. Tropez’s line of products- they don’t smell at all! I’ve found that self-tanners from the drugstore are so strongly-scented that they keep me up at night! This one has very little scent, if at all.
I have been so anxious to try Caudalie, so I finally ordered a few things I’d had my eyes on last month. I really wanted to give them a try to report back to you what I thought of them. Caudalie is a top brand and can get a little pricey. So, here it is:
I purchased the travel size of the very popular Beauty Elixir because I wanted to be able to put it in my purse to take with me to use during the day. The Beauty Elixir can be used in two ways: before moisturizer after cleansing or over makeup to refresh pores. I have to say, I love the way this feels on my face. It smells great and really feels like it is tightening and brightening. I don’t know if I’ll buy the full size (it’s almost $50) but I really like the packability of the travel size!
The Concentrated Brightening Essence is a fairly new product of their’s, so I bought it without knowing much about it. This essence essentially works like a toner; you put it on before moisturizer after cleansing as well. I knew this one would be good for brightening because it contains glycolic acid. I’ve noticed my skin texture is more even and makeup goes on so much smoother. This is definitely one I’ll be keeping around!
That’s all for July!
